Sentinel U® has announced several new upgrades to its healthcare-focused virtual learning simulations. The award-winning provider of web-based education simulations for nursing schools, hospital systems and healthcare professionals has launched its ALIGN® Community Health Course Digital Teaching Resources as an added value to the Sentinel City® v.5 and Sentinel Town® virtual simulations, added new modules and continuing education units (CEUs) to its Professional Nursing Series®, included CEUs within its Advanced Practice Series®, and embedded new reporting tools into its Faculty Dashboard.
A leader in virtual curriculum innovation, Sentinel U’s new product updates and enhancements meet the needs of today’s rapidly expanding healthcare industry. The company continually improves its simulations in order to provide today’s nurses with the most up-to-date virtual nursing education.
“Modern medical breakthroughs, new technologies and post-pandemic policies constantly change the role of nurses within our healthcare continuum,” said Jeffrey Caplan, president of Sentinel U. “These product improvements are a part of our larger goal to arm our current and future nursing leaders with the critical skills and knowledge they need to improve the lives of their patients.”
ALIGN® Community Health Course Digital Teaching Resources Now Available
ALIGN® Community Health Course Digital Teaching Resources, Sentinel U’s first academic course for community health nursing, is now included with the award-winning Sentinel City® v.5 and Sentinel Town® virtual simulations, two of the top resources in the industry for community and population health. Utilizing best practices from organizations such as the American Red Cross and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as pre-brief resources, ALIGN’s ready-made and easily adoptable community health course alleviates the stress and time involved with curriculum planning.
The continuously updated, complete course curriculum features 16 topical areas covering subjects such as disaster management & preparedness, mental health & substance abuse, environmental health & safety, vulnerable populations, and global health, among others. Each content area features objectives, introductions, assessments, a summary recap and recommendations for activities within Sentinel City® v.5 and Sentinel Town®, available to users through a searchable e-catalog. Each activity is aligned with organizational standards with objectives, pre-brief and Sentinel U’s EMPOWER® Debrief.
Professional Nursing Series® Adds New Modules and CEUs
In addition to the wide range of professional development coursework provided within the Professional Nursing Series™, Sentinel U has added 14 new modules aimed at helping nursing professionals understand the complexities of caring for patients with unique backgrounds and challenging conditions. Designed for nurse residency programs, nurses transitioning into practice and practicing nurses, Professional Nursing Series™ provides a standardized, realistic, and immersive experience to help train future nurse leaders with the best practice while providing hospital systems with powerful ways to enhance professional development and improve their staff’s clinical judgment.
In addition to modules for surgical inpatient and outpatient, critical care, and intensive care, the product now includes modules for pediatric acute inpatient and outpatient care, mental health care, geriatrics, antepartum and postpartum scenarios, neonatal care, and more. In each module, nurses are presented with five patients with a variety of scenarios and conditions to foster critical thinking and build confidence in clinical settings. Learners use advanced judgment skills to prioritize care with a variety of patient conditions. Each module earns students two CEUs, and they can earn up to 40 CEUs.
Advanced Practice Series® to Offer CEUs
This summer learners will have the opportunity to earn CEUs using Sentinel U’s Advanced Practice Series®. Designed to support active advanced practice learners, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants/associates (PA) and medical students, the virtual simulation introduces a diverse patient population from a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds exhibiting common complaints in various clinical areas.
By utilizing the program’s 55 unique patient encounters within 11 specialty areas, including typical and complex adult and pediatric care, women’s health, mental health, cardiology, oncology, and gerontology, advanced practitioners will be able to earn up to 82.5 CEUs.
Faculty Dashboard
This fall, users of Sentinel U virtual simulations will enjoy a new Faculty Dashboard for all products, complete with updated reporting tools.
